Prince of Persia's father to receive honorary award at Fun & Serious

Jordan Mechner is also the author of Karateka.

The new edition of the Fun & Serious festival, which will take place from 8 to 11 December in the city of Bilbao, will award the legendary Jordan Mechner, author of the classic Prince of Persia, with an honorary award throughout his career.

"Being able to recognize the talent of the creator of Prince of Persia, one of the most addictive, memorable and thrilling games in history, is a pride for Fun & Serious, and a luxury, for his assistants to chat and debate with him," said director of the festival, Alfonso Gómez. "The presence of Mechner in Bilbao, reinforces the role of the festival, and an authentic appointment and a world reference for any amateur or professional in the video game industry."

Mechner is not only remembered for having created the adventures of the Prince of Persia; is also recognized for having radically transformed the narrative in the world of video games combining, for the first time, a spectacular action thanks to its technological advances with a narrative of the cinema. Another of the most important works of the creative is Karateka, Apple II.

In this edition of Fun & Serious also will receive an honorary prize the veteran John Romero, father among others of Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein.
