Gearbox explains why Borderlands 3 takes so long to advertise

Its managers intend to take a substantial leap to meet the expectations of fans.

Gearbox explains why Borderlands 3 takes so long to advertise
In a recent interview with the IGN portal, Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox, has talked about why Borderlands 3 has been so long without formally announcing itself: the studio aims to make the game a "great and valuable" step forward.

"The easiest thing in the world would be to throw a bunch of Pre-Sequels and make a lot of money," explains Pitchford, who details the ambition to embrace his project. "It's not something you accomplish overnight."

To illustrate the situation of Borderlands 3, Pitchford exemplifies the transition between GTA III and GTA IV: from his point of view, Vice City and San Andreas created "an atmosphere of decadence" as they shared engine and generation, while Grand Theft Auto IV was a great leap for the franchise. "The fans had to wait a long time because Rockstar knew what people wanted and expected, and they had to create that."

For now, Borderlands 3 has no release date or presentation as such, although we know that Gearbox is focused on developing the game right now.
